First pregnancy

I had a „problem“ with EXCESS of amniotic fluid in all three pregnancies.In the first one, I didn’t even know it until the 9th month, when I was diagnosed with this excess at the Front during ultrasound examinations. More precisely, at the first ultrasound in the 9th month, the doctor asked me for the results of the OGTT test, which is done from 24-28 weeks of pregnancy, and I did it for the first time at 38, because I didn’t even know about it. And the amniotic fluid was at the upper limit.

I didn’t do it during my second pregnancy, when the doctor found out during regular check-ups that she had an excess of amniotic fluid, we started with a hygienic-dietary diet. More precisely, I threw out all the white flour, starch and sugar. Which means only one apple a day and a green one.

And the second pregnancy was in the summer, watermelon and strawberries as much as you like, and they were harmful to me, so I had to avoid them, it was difficult, I have to admit, I ate a little secretly.

But I found a recipe for wholemeal cookies that I used to make, and that’s how I quenched my sweet tooth. I will write the recipe at the end of the text.I also kneaded bread with rye, buckwheat and wholemeal flour and added sesame, flax, chia seeds, sunflower, pumpkin seeds… all kinds of things.

My luck, I love those integral tangles, I’ll leave the recipe below. And I kneaded it for the reason that all the purchased ones also contain white flour, and I wanted to adhere to everything as much as possible.It is one of my „rehearsals“ that everything must be respected to the maximum.

While in the third pregnancy, the doctor asked me to do an OGTT test because the amniotic fluid did not decrease despite the hygienic-dietary diet regimen. So that he can be sure that it is not pregnancy sugar.

Now what does that testing look like. One was ok, the other wasn’t pleasant at all…

I worked in the GAK Narodni Frontu maternity hospital for the first time. They took my blood when I arrived, and gave me 75ml of glucose to drink. My sister literally poured one sip into my glass. I drank it, they told me that it could make me sick and that if I threw up I would have to do it again the next day. Well, I won’t go outside to drink it twice.

I sat in the corridor and they took my blood two more times. Once after 30 minutes and 60 minutes. I was not allowed to eat or drink anything during that time, and not even before that.

I remember one pregnant woman got sick, she just fainted.

Now, in my third pregnancy, I drank 75ml of glucose in 300ml of water. Well, that was really painful. It has to be drunk quickly, and it is very, very sweet.

I vomited three times, but I didn’t give in, I knew that if I threw up I would have to drink again. I was sweating and drinking.

I also drew blood as soon as I arrived, then after 30 minutes and 60 minutes. I was supposed to sit in the corridor, but since it was corona time they let me go and come back for measurements.

None of the three times there was gestational diabetes. The first time I would have been hospitalized if it weren’t for the holidays, because the AFI in the 9th month was 220. And it should decrease.

In the third it was the same pull and pull, the doctor said that I will end up in the hospital if the amniotic fluid does not begin to decrease, so they can investigate what is happening.




However, I was as persistent as a mule and threw out everything that could be thrown out. I prepared everything normally, I just used wholemeal flour and wholemeal rice.

My husband and children didn’t mind it, to be honest they didn’t even know it was integral. And I made pies from buckwheat crusts. We still use them today, they are delicious. So I got through the third time without hospitalization, because the amniotic fluid decreased in time.

Only in the second pregnancy, when the amniotic fluid was corrected, did Leo start to gain weight, which again is not good because the baby can be born with sugar if it suddenly gains weight.

He was born in the 37th week and weighed 3500 grams, if we had made it to the due date he would have weighed 5 kg guaranteed. But about that pregnancy and that birth in one of the next posts. This one was dedicated to the lady amniotic fluid, which knows how to work hard.

It is NOT valid when it is in deficit, it is invalid when it is in excess, although both can be corrected.I gained 18 kg of weight in my first pregnancy, only 8 kg in the second, and 10 kg in the third, because in the second and third the doctor noticed in time and drew my attention to nutrition, because sugar was was normal.

It is only important to notice it in time and then take care of the diet, if it is elevated, I have no experience with a deficiency, but I believe that it can also be corrected. If a pregnant woman or mother has encountered a lack of amniotic fluid, she can write in the comment how she regulated it.

-200 grams of whole wheat flour 

-200 grams of black flour 100 grams of buckwheat flour (you can add and subtract as you like, but it is important that there is 500 grams of buckwheat flour) 

-2 spoons of ground flaxseed

 -1 and a half teaspoon of salt 

-2 tablespoons of honey

 -480ml of lukewarm water 

-sunflower, linseed, whose seeds, pumpkin seeds and sesame

I put in the dough by the handful and then I work from above when I put it in the pan.   

Mix it all together and you get a smooth mixture, pour it into a baking tray, leave it for 30-40 minutes and bake it at 180° (my oven is a bit stronger, so I put it at 180°, and for those with a normal or weaker oven, it can be at 200° ).

It can stand for a week without missing anything. Even better if it sits in the fridge. It’s too tasty for me, I make it now and then



-100 grams of Hejda flour

-70 g of oatmeal (I used muesli with chocolate or hazelnut crumbs)

-100ml of olive oil

-3 spoons of honey

-1 baking powder

-1/2 teaspoon of salt

-1 teaspoon of cinnamon

-1 teaspoon of flax

-1 teaspoon of sesame seeds

-60 ml of milk   

Everything is mixed, I baked them by putting them in paper muffin tins, and you can also put about a tablespoon or an ice cream scoop on the baking paper, bake them quickly for about 15 minutes at 180°.
